Women boots have long become a fashion item more than a utilitarian shoe for walking when it rains and is stormy. It is not rare today to see women wearing shoes in the middle of the summer when the sun is shining and the temperatures are high.

There are many kinds of boots and choosing the right one for you is important. A boot can not be considered out of context or in other words a boot can not be judged without taking into account what outfit it will be worn with. For example boots that look good when worn on top of long jeans are different than boots that look good when worn together with a short mini skirt. Boots for summer time are different than boots for winter time and there are also casual boots or more dress formal boots.

Boots comes in a variety of shapes and colors. To best choose the boot for you go to a big shoe store and just try on many designs. Be sure to go to the store wearing the same or at least close outfit to the one you plan to use with those boots as it will help you figuring it if the boot works for you or not.

There are some basic features to choose from when looking at boots. Heel length is usually perceived with casual versus format boot style. The higher the heel the more formal and sophisticated the boot tend to look like. To the extreme flat boots are usually considered casual and can go with almost any outfit.

The fit type is another feature to look at. Basically boots vary by how tight they fit on your leg. Some boots can become like a second layer of skin as they tightly fit on any leg. Although they can look good if you intend to wear them for long period of times make sure that the fit is not too tight and that you are comfortable with it. The other extreme are loose fit boots. You can recognize them by the obvious large gap between the boot and the leg. Sometimes such a loose fit seems uncomfortable to walk with and also not so elegant as the tight fit. The right fit for you depends on your style and where you plan to wear the boots. Format boots fit tends to be tight while casual can be either loose or tight.

Color and texture are very important too. Black boots are classy and elegant while funkier colors like bright red or purple can convey another fashion message and can go very well with less traditional outfits like a colorful skirt or even a night dress. Boots also come in a variety of textures from simple solid colors to different designs shapes and accessories. If you are not afraid if loud colors and textures you can find many boots today that will sport high heels loud colors and funky textures. Combining such a boot with a quiet outfit creates an extraordinary contrast that provides a unique look.
